Your iPhone has the ability to include additional keyboards. Whether it’s the emoji keyboard, or a keyboard in another language, there are ways for you to add characters that aren’t a part of your default language’s keyboard.
But you can also change the layout of your current keyboard and make it so that it’s easier to type with one hand. This is accomplished by the iPhone compressing the keyboard to one side of the screen so that the letters are easier to reach if you are gripping the device on one side.
How to Make the iPhone Keyboard Easier to Use With One Hand
The steps in this article were performed on an iPhone 7 Plus in iOS 12.2. By completing the steps in this article you will be adjusting the layout of your keyboard in apps that use the iPhone’s default keyboard such as Mail and Messages.
Step 1: Open the Settings app.

Step 2: Choose the General option.

Step 3: Scroll down and select the Keyboard option.

Step 4: Tap the One-Handed Keyboard button.

Step 5: Choose the side of the keyboard that corresponds with the hand that you typically use to hold your iPhone.
