Here’s the Fix

If your iPhone screen is locking too fast, then it can be difficult to do anything that requires you to look at your screen without touching it. This is particularly noticeable when you are following directions on the screen, and you are returning to your iPhone to reference steps from a Web page, email, or text message.

The amount of time that your iPhone waits before locking the screen is a variable setting, and there are a few different lengths of time from which you can choose.

Step 1: Tap the Settings icon.

Step 2: Select the Display & Brightness menu.

Step 3: Touch the Auto-Lock option.

Step 4: Select a desired length of time.

While certain situations may call for you to select the Never option, be sure to come back later and choose a lower duration of time. If your iPhone screen is set to never lock, you may find that your battery drains faster. The iPhone screen being on is perhaps the biggest use of your iPhone’s battery, so only having it on when you need it can help to extend your battery life.

Additionally, longer periods of time before locking the screen may lead to your phone being unlocked when you walk away from it, or when you put it in your purse or pocket. This can be a security risk, as well as a potential reason for unwanted calls being placed.
